Chief Revenue Officer - Tampa Bay Rowdies (St. Petersburg, FL)
Background: Tampa Bay Rowdies are long-time professional soccer team with several decades of heritage & tradition. Currently competing as one of the top clubs in the United Soccer League (Division II) the Rowdies have applied to join Major League Soccer (Division I). The Club’s MLS Bid is built upon plans for a significant upgrade and redevelopment of its current waterfront stadium in downtown St. Petersburg expanding to 18,000-seats.
Tampa Bay Rowdies’ long-term aspiration is to become one of the preeminent sporting organizations in the United States.
Position Overview: The Chief Revenue Officer is a newly created position that will oversee all revenue generation aspects related to ticket sales and corporate partnerships -- as well as the Club’s pending expansion of its staff in these disciplines. This position will operate within the senior management team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage all ticket sales (including premium seating, group sales and season tickets)
Generate sales & partnership marketing of all sponsorship inventory (e.g., team, upgraded stadium, youth club, etc.)
Management of staff and overall sales functions
Implement organized systems, process, and measurements to effectively and efficiently manage department
Write and develop proposals and materials
Develop meaningful business relationships with existing and potential team partners
Maintain communicative and collaborative working relationships with other internal departments
Be an ambassador on behalf of the Club in the Tampa & St. Petersburg corporate community
Other projects as deemed necessary by the Club
Essential Skills, Experience & Abilities:
Strong sales and sales management background in the area of major league team sports, large sports-related media companies, major sports/entertainment events and/or other related industries. (Experience working in Tampa/St. Petersburg market preferred, but not required.)
Prior supervisory experience with proven ability to lead, coach, manage, mentor and motivate a sales team
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Must be a team builder and team player. Must have the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, clientele, etc.
Must be a skilled negotiator with ability to under promise with the purpose of over delivery of sponsorship assets
Able to generate ideas and provide creative solutions
Superior presentation skills. Easily presents in front of a group as well as in a more personal setting
A proven strategic thinker who will embrace the sales process in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Outgoing, sales-oriented individual who develops & builds strong relationships with third-parties
A strong understanding of the professional sports business industry, including products and service expectations
Drive to succeed in high-paced, revenue-generating field with strong time management and organizational skills
Able to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, within a team atmosphere
